Enquiries are not reaching our email inbox but I can see messages in the dashboard

Why You Might Not Be Getting Email Notifications for New Messages

If you've noticed that messages are showing up in your Canvas dashboard but you're not receiving the usual email notifications, don’t worry—this is likely by design.

To help reduce unnecessary emails and keep inboxes clear, the system will only send email notifications when you are offline. Here's how it works and what you can do to check everything is working correctly.

🔍 Why You’re Not Receiving Emails

Canvas uses smart logic to reduce notification overload.
If you’re actively logged in to your account, the system detects that you’re online and will:

  • Display messages in your dashboard in real-time

  • Not send an email notification (since you’re already active)

This helps cut down on inbox clutter—especially for high-traffic venues.

How to Test If It’s Working as Expected

You can try this quick test:

  1. Log out of your Canvas dashboard

  2. You should receive the response via email (as you're now marked as offline)

  3. Log back in to continue working from the dashboard

Why This Approach Matters

  • More and more email notifications are being blocked, especially in corporate email environments

  • Some clients are also moving to in-app messaging because they can't receive emails reliably

  • This system helps ensure you don’t miss messages and encourages you to use the dashboard as your central hub

💡 Best Practice: Check Your Dashboard Once a Day

Even if you’re not receiving emails, you can stay on top of all your enquiries by:

  • Remaining logged in

  • Checking your dashboard once daily

All messages and updates will be logged there, even if they weren’t sent via email.
